The Arts Council are pleased to announce that Island of Culture Youth Ambassador Jason Evans will be performing a concert with the Douglas Town Band as part of the Arts Council run Brass Band and Manx Music Summer Season 2016.
The concert will take place at the Villa Marina Arcade on Sunday 19th June at 3pm and is completely free to attend.
Jason is currently the Principal Trumpet with the Philharmonia Orchestra making him one of the youngest principal trumpets in the UK and possibly the world. He is also a founding member of the award winning London-based brass quintet Inner City Brass that, during Island of Culture 2014, performed a concert at Peel Cathedral and provided a brass masterclass at St Ninian's Lower School.
Born on the Isle of Man, Jason began learning the trumpet when he was six years old and went on to study at Chetham's School of Music from the age of 11 followed by the Royal Academy of Music. During his youth he also performed in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain for which the Arts Council proudly provided funding to cover fees, travel and accommodation costs.
The dates of all of the performances taking place as part of the Brass Band and Manx Music Summer Season 2016 can be seen in the poster below.
