For Year of Our Island, May has been designated as the month to celebrate the Island's Innovation and Creativity. We've put together a useful guide of all the creative events happening during May! 

Festivals and Events

4/5: Artwork by Stedhead - Secret Pizza Co. will be opening their brand new premises in Castletown featuring original artwork inside by Stedhead

5-24/5: Castletown Art Trail - Local business have donated their window space in Castletown in order to showcase entries into the Castletown Art Trail. 

5-7/5: Arts Festival 2018  - One of the biggest events in the year for artist and artisans, many of the Island’s creatives will be involved showcasing their talent through Art Trails, Exhibitions, Art Demonstrations, Pop Ups and Workshops. 5-7/5: Karolina Pawlowska Live Painting - Karolina will be creating a wall mural live painting & unveiling in Castletown as part of Arts Festival and funded by the Arts Council. 

6/5: Oie Voaldyn - Celebrate Manx May Day & Evening - Laa & Oie Voaldyn - starting at 2pm taking place on Peel Beach and Promenade by the swing bridge over the harbour - there will be music and dancing until 8.30pm with a whole range of different Manx groups. The Manx Fire Festival is funded by the Arts Council & Culture Vannin

7/5: May Day Celebration - Castletown

8/5: Manx Swing Band -  Performing at the Villa Arcade at 7pm and is funded by the Arts Council as part of the Summer Music Season.

10/5: Crosby & District Silver Band - Performing at the Villa Arcade at 7pm and is funded by the Arts Council as part of the Summer Music Season.

11/5: Hartes Ease and Tallis Consort - at St. Ninian’s Church

12/5: Clash Vooar -Blues at The Institute Laxey

13/5: Castletown Town Band - Performing at the Villa Arcade at 3pm and is funded by the Arts Council as part of the Summer Music Season.

16/5: ISLEXPO - An exploration of what makes the Isle of Man a top location to start, grow or relocate a business. Villa Marina, Douglas, Isle of Man.

17/5: Short stories and ludicrous tales - at The Eatery

24/5: Creative Industries Public Meeting - at Noa Bakehouse

24/5: Spring Concert - Performing at the Villa Arcade at 7pm and is funded by the Arts Council as part of the Summer Music Season.

Exhibitions

16/4 - 16/5: Rob Smith Artwork - currently exhibiting at Spill the Beans

22/4 – 10/6: ‘Magical Island’ Exhibition  - at the Isle Gallery 

28/4 – 20/5: ‘Inspiring Another Generation’  - A UCM Alumni Exhibition at The Sayle Gallery

1/5 – 30/7:  Isle of Man Arts Council: Loan Collection Exhibition - Teacher & Student exhibition at the Villa Marina

5-7/5: Sayle Gallery during Arts Fest weekend - Creative Network artists John Caley and Jill Gillings. Both will be in the gallery over the weekend demonstrating their techniques and offering the opportunity for visitors to have a go. 

13/5: Awakening - The Methodist Modern Art Collection -  Across various venues in the Isle of Man

10/5: Wine & Art - An evening of wine tasting lead by wine expert, Ollie Neale at The George Hotel. Throughout the wine tasting, there will be exclusive access to world famous art, including Picasso, Anthony Gormley, David Hockney, Ian Coulson & many more from the Arts Council Loan Collection in celebration of its 25th Anniversary.
