Janet was the visual artist representing the Isle of Man this year at the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France, with an exhibition of art photographs, poems and poetry films. The Noa exhibition will feature the images shown in Lorient.
It was a huge honour to be selected as the visual artist representing the Isle of Man in Lorient this year, and the festival was an incredible experience. I’m very grateful to Noa Bakehouse for giving me the opportunity to show the work in the Isle of Man. This extraordinary venue is a real hub for creativity and community, and it has just the right vibe for this series of largely abstract images, many of which were taken in Douglas and around the Island.
One of the images from Janet’s Lorient exhibition was selected for ‘Out of the Ordinary’, an exhibition currently showing at the Bridewell Theatre in London, featuring work by creative photographers from around the world. Earlier this year, a series of Janet’s photographs formed a visual narrative running through the Climate Minds anthology of art, essays, poetry and fiction by a range of international artists, writers and activists. Her film-based works have been selected for prizes and festivals including the Aesthetica Art Prize and FilmPoem, and her poetry is widely published and anthologised.
