Arts Development Manager

Jane was raised and educated on the Isle of Man and studied singing and piano with Eleanor Shimmin BEM until attending the University of Edinburgh where she gained an MA Hons degree in Modern Foreign Languages.  After a year studying music at the University of Idaho, USA as an Ella Olesen Scholar, Jane returned to the Isle of Man where she performed regularly on the Gaiety stage, taking many lead roles for the Douglas Choral Union and in other plays.  Singing has played a large role in Jane’s life and she sings at many events around the island, has sung on several occasions for the Cleveland Medal at the Manx Music Festival as well as being a member of Manx Voices ladies choir, travelling off island to sing and compete.  Jane worked for many years in the finance sector but she also holds an LTCL from Trinity College, London and privately taught music until joining the Arts Council team as the Arts Development Manager.

As the Arts Development Manager, Jane leads the team in their support of the IOM Arts Council and delivery of the National Development Strategy for Culture and the Arts.
