Loan Collection

The Isle of Man Arts Council Modern and Contemporary Loan Collection is a National collection of over 300 pieces of art. The core purpose is to enable the Manx public to access a diverse mix of known and emerging artists and subjects to broaden cultural awareness. The collection supports artists through the purchase and display of their work, and safeguards it for future generations.

Artworks can usually be found in schools, public buildings, offices and public spaces around the island by artists such as David Hockney, Frank Auerbach, Paula Rego, Craige Aitchinson and Peter Blake. Also included are a number of larger public art pieces such as The Dancers by John Mulvey which can be found outside the Sefton Hotel on Douglas Promenade.

Borrowing from the Collection

We welcome requests for loans of artworks to display in buildings that are both easily accessible and free to enter to the public. Loans are subject to a formal agreement and can vary in duration from short temporary exhibitions to long-term display in public spaces such as schools, hospitals or public buildings.

There is no fee for borrowing artworks from the collection, but the borrower may have to cover the cost of transport.
