Colette Davies
Throughout history, representations of Goddesses have played a central role in various cultures and religions. By creating such art today Colette hopes to help maintain cultural continuity and connect contemporary generations with their cultural and spiritual heritage. The intention of the paintings is to depict a face, which concurrently looks like unreachable Goddesses and yet also familiar women. Thereby portraying a part of our Manx and wider Celtic and Norse cultures, which is sometimes forgotten.
Coletteās Goddesses represent aspects of wisdom, strength and vitality and the hope is that through representing this in art it can serve as a reminder of the strength and significance of women and reclaim the magnificence of the Crone.
The intention is to revive the narrative around our folkloric culture, to provide a bridge between the past and the present, thereby offering opportunities for cultural expression, reflection, and dialogue.
