Arts Aid, the independent charity offering financial assistance to Manx students who aspire to study in the arts, is inviting applications for its 2021 scholarships.

Established with foundation funding from the Isle of Man Arts Council and now in its fourth year, Arts Aid is pleased to be helping an increasing number of highly talented young people to attend courses ranging from BTEC to master’s degree level at some of Britain’s most prestigious arts institutions. Arts Aid scholarships are awarded for a one-year period, with scholarship recipients pursuing multi-year courses able to re-apply and be considered for a renewal of their scholarship based on their performance.

Those wishing to apply for scholarships for courses beginning in autumn 2021 should contact the Secretary by email to request an application pack, which includes an application form and instructions. With funding limited and the application process competitive, candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applicants will be expected to have applied for a course at a suitable educational institution at the time of their application. It is not necessary, however, to have a confirmed place when first applying to Arts Aid.

David Wertheim, Chairman, said: ‘The last year has been especially challenging for young people whose studies have been very seriously disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. Students’ resilience, perseverance and willingness to adapt to distance learning has been remarkable. We all hope that 2021/22 will allow a return to a more normal life especially for our students. Once again the directors are looking forward to meeting this year’s very talented scholarship applicants.’

Arts Aid is pleased to acknowledge the generous support received during the current year from ILS World, Ramsey Crookall, Zedra, the Elizabeth Clucas and the J. R. Moore Charitable Trusts, as well as student travel assistance from Loganair.

Any candidates wishing to apply for a scholarship, should e-mail the Secretary at secretary@arts-aid.org.
